Um ... Hyrid I would say that the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Lexus RX400h. They have over 250 hp / torque. This number is definitely good for towing a boat. Gers, but still above 25 MPG. I doubt cars can exceed this amount above mentioned.
If you do not really care about price.
Atually hybrid does not require more maintenance than a conventional gasoline vehicle, and did some atually in the most reliable vehicle in Consumerreport.org. And a taxi driver in the car was reported Yahoo has 200,000 miles on a Prius and still maintains strong bettery.

When I tried to offer good fuel economy and great power, I personally see a diesel SUV. The VW Touareg has a 10-cylinder diesel economy very good and impressive towing capacity (rated at 7500 pounds if I remember correctly)

Another option might look something like this: the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Good fuel economy in the use of gasoline.

Unfortunately, both vehicles are in the big $ $ $ (and any Mercedes or BMW is a diesel SUV with a trailer hitch and good fuel economy has to be shared fairly well, but even more $$$).

If your needs offering £ 3500 to be examined in May, a minivan. Most have decent minibus towing capacity and better fuel economy than SUVs. Unfortunately, there is simply no way tolook good in a truck towing a boat.

Good luck
